This large and stunning Japanese blue & white Jardiniere is actually an authentic porcelain Japanese hibachi dating back to the turn of the century. Patterned borders and hand-painted landscapes adorn this amazing piece. A hibachi was used to keep warm during winter months and was 2/3rds filled with ash and then with heated charcoal placed in the middle. They often hung iron teapots on rods spanning the large hibachi to steep tea. Today these are best used as decorative Jardinieres, containers for houseplants.
