Words are loaded things and we have targets painted on our foreheads.
‘Soul’: What a weighted concept, right? The prospect of having A Soul, the prospect of just being soulful, there’s lots to ponder there. I’ll leave you to tumble it around in your brain. I really just want a tequila popsicle and some peace and quiet right now.
Sixteen by twelve opening features ‘soul’ seemingly floating in mid-air, but really it’s housed between two pieces of glass. Reclaimed frame is old sculpted wood that someone has put a generous layer of gold paint on: It’s solid wood with carved accents, fished out of an old house in Center, Alabama. This piece is twenty-two-and-a-half by sixteen-and-a-half overall and has gallery-style wire affixed firmly to the back for hanging.
I love a good ole frame and I have had a lifelong love affair with words, so the Floating Words series I’ve started tickles me to death since it marries the two. Lots more to come.
