- rare double cluster porcelain bulb sockets by leviton (each stamped w/ original manufacturer mark)
- base is very heavy weighted w/ original solid iron block for impressive stability & control when positioning light where you need it
- complete w/ original lamp shade riser & holder + finial … Engraged nessen lamps n.Y.C. At base of socket arm (small dent underneath, but not noticeable)
About walter von nessen ~
Walter von nessen, a leading german and art deco designer, is known for his innovative styling in modern lighting design. He immigrated to america in 1925, and is reported to have started his design studio in new york city in 1927. His lamps are still manufactured and sold through nessen lighting. Many of his pieces are in notable museum collections around the world, including new york city’s globally acclaimed moma.
note: this lamp requires repair. bottom screw bolt that anchors lamp frame to base broke during transit & must be repaired or replaced. Lamp is presently unsuable in its current state & is completely dissambled. All original parts present including broken bolt. Rewiring is also required. Original wiring still in place including the bereno 56 slide plug (patent 2647245.) please feel free to inquire for additional info. This is a great project for someone skilled in vintage restoration … And at an incredible deal!!
