I loved this piece so much; when I bought it it was in pieces! I planned on having it ebonized (painted black!) to give it a modern look to compliment the MCM & industrial pieces in my home. It was a victim of too many projects- too little time. It has been restored & is a wooden bed/blanket chest; perhaps mahogany(?). Restorer used pine boards for the top’s frame (I have 3 of the mahogany slats for the frame); no key. Waiting for your Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to totally transform it! I Love the wooden handles!!! This shabby/cottage/French chic piece would be wonderful at the end of your bed, in a child’s room (toy storage), or in a hallway to store your items. It’s sturdy enough to be used as a bench as well. Almost an antique, this vintage hope chest is lined with cedar!!! Use it as a locker and store your shoes & boots! This storage cabinet could also be used as an ottoman. For the designer in you! Can you mix it with mid century modern or industrial??? Sure you can!! This is a heavy piece- 80lbs and is destined to be an heirloom piece!
