These are two great Ethan Allen nightstands. The nightstands first went on sale as part of a bedroom collection in 1973. These nightstands were produced as part of the same collection in 1976, selling for $66.50 each. The original production code date and item number remain on the back of each stand. Each drawer bottom is burned with the iconic Ethan & Allen trademark.
When we found these nightstands they were painted “Daffodil Yellow” as described in an advertisement from 1973, for a “lighthearted feminine look.” We decided to change up the original intent entirely. One of the tops has some minor scrapes and scratches. So, we sanded the stands the best we could and applied jet black paint. We retained the original hardware and added hand painted hot pink silkscreen emblems to each corner of the tops. These stands are no longer for the faint of heart.
The stands would be a perfect addition to any rockabilly or punk bedroom ensemble, or even for a little girl or young woman’s personal space as a way to demonstrate her individuality. The stands are quite heavy and are made of solid wood. These nightstands truly were a labor of love, and there is still a chance that our daughter may claim them to adorn her room.
