Pair tall lithe antique comb back Windsor chairs. 9 spindle Philadelphia style. 19th century high end reproduction. Both are in excellent condition and are of high quality from a Greenwich CT estate. They have no markings, though they look to have been made by a top tier manufacturer. They are not cheap 20th century reproductions; they have a gorgeous patina and upon inspection you will see their quality. They were sold to me with an original receipt from the 1940s from an antique shop in Long Island. They were listed as Hitchcock chairs, but I don’t see evidence of that marking. They have a very antique presence and I would bet they are older than I think. I’ve been around antiques all my life, and my mother even collects Windsor chairs, though this pair seems of a higher caliber than any she has collected over the years. That’s just my observation. When I saw them at an estate sale I knew they were high end, but that was as much as I knew. Hopefully someone who will appreciate their style and construction will spot them here and know that the price is fair is not very inexpensive for the pair. Just saying.
