a Mid Century Modernist Daybed!

Here is an extremely unique steel frame and upholstered daybed. I have done a lot of research on this item and have yet to find anything quite like it. It is quite possible that this daybed is a one of a kind custom design. Most likely from the 1960s – 70s but unsure of its exact age.

The daybed measures 30" H x 60" W x 27.5" D. The seat height is 19". The seat space between the arms is 54" wide. The seat cushion is 4" thick. The bolsters are 7" diameter.

The daybed has a modernist Bauhaus inspired metal base. The metal base is made of black enameled steel. The larger stretcher measures 2 inches in diameter. The metal framework itself measures 12" H x 60" W x 25" D. The legs also have 4 adjustable leveling glides.

The U shaped upholstered frame features a singular cushion and two bolsters. The fabric is in excellent condition for its age. This daybed would be a showstopper if it were reupholstered in a luxurious mohair or linen! Overall the daybed is in excellent condition with only minor wear commensurate with age.
