History of the table: Made by a very unique company, Tropical Salvage that reclaims wood from Indonesia, on the islands of Java and Borneo. Their furniture makers and artisans are seasoned at combining complementary grains and tones to achieve beautiful results. The finish is also very unique and entirely natural — it’s a traditional Indonesian shellac called ambolo. It’s not a stain but it expresses a faint amber tint when it’s applied to wood. The slight darkening emphasizes variation of pattern and color in the wood grain.
