Handsome vintage wood side chair in original condition with dark wood stain and amazing needlework on seat and back. Slim lines. Nailhead trim. Very charming. Numbered beneath seat, but no maker’s marks.
Needlepoint scene on seat is of a bouquet of flowers, including two large roses on a light blue-gray background. Scene on backrest is a winter landscape of a bridge over a stream with evergreen trees. The backside of the chair is covered in a piece of chenille brocade.
As seen in the photo of the underside of the seat, it appears to originally have had a cane seat, which is broken. The upholstery straps that hold the new seat cushion are a bit loose and should probably be tightened for future use.
Otherwise very good vintage condition. No major scratches or dents to the wood. Just some wear to edges where dark stain is worn off. No tears, stains or damage to the needlework. Trim around chenille brocade has some loose threads.
