Exceptional piece of furniture in any aspect.
Craftsmanship, materials, design all are home runs!
Craftsmanship: Dovetail joints in drawers with screws for sides and back (sturdiest drawers i’ve ever seen)
Inside of unit is completely ebonized.
Inlaid ebony trim is remarkably exact
Detail of grain patterns in drawer facings is exceptional
Mortise lock box in center drawer
Materials: Beautiful old growth Brazilian rosewood top surrounded by ebony trim and elm burl, Drawer sides and back are 3/4" thick oak Framing all oak All hardware is solid brass (missing drawer knobs will be replaced)
Design: Simplicity of geometry in Biedermeier design merged with french serpentine shape…Really pops without going over the top..Can work with any design theme and/or period even modern…
Condition of this piece is excellent there is wear to the corners of the top piece. No scratches stains or other defects to the entire piece. This piece has been re-finished by replacing the top coat sealer…The colors are all natural no stains of any kind have been used to enhance or change any of the natural looks.
I would estimate this piece was made in the US around 1910-1920
Simply put: this is an exceptionally handsome piece of furniture built with the absolute best in craftsmanship, materials and design.
