This large comfortable lounge chair is designed by the great American Art Deco designer Paul Frankl, known for his iconic ‘Skycraper Style’ designs of the 1930’s and 1940’s. He produced many items of upholstered furniture as well as unusual cabinet pieces. This particular design is known as the ‘Speed’ Club Chair, as it appears to be in motion, much like a speedboat or a race car. Most generally, his upholstered chairs and sofas have exceedingly wide arms with angled side profiles to accentuate the forward motion. This chair might very well be still upholstered in its original nubby fabric in a melon shade of yellow, which although being a little faded in certain areas, is in remarkably good condition overall. We’ve just recently had it professionally cleaned and it’s now ready to find a perfect new home.
