Iconic staved teak “Congo” ice bucket designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk in 1954 & made in Denmark, not Thailand. The real deal!
It is marked “Dansk Design Denmark IHQ” with the 4 early swimming ducks that date the piece from the 1950s to early 1960s. It has its original orange plastic liner & teak lid.
Reportedly echoing the design of Viking longboats, the bucket is made of epoxy-joined sections of teak, with a handle pegged in between. The plastic interior shows the intersection between modern and ancient forms in Quistgaard’s designs.
Both wood & liner are in excellent condition with no cracks. The overall measure is approx. 15.5" H x 7.5" W.
