This is a pair of vintage (1940s?) Goodform (Good Form?) aluminum “Navy” style chairs. Super popular and collectible today. Made of lightweight aluminum, so easy to move around. Quite solid – both chairs seem to be sturdy. Very much like the “Emeco” chairs – just a different maker.
One chair has been cleaned up by the previous owner – he said he used a little steel wool and paint thinner. This has revealed the clean aluminum shine. The other chair has not been cleaned, and shows some yellowing of its finish, as well as a few paint spatters. I tried the steel wool with a bit of vinegar and water, and it did indeed seem to clean the yellowing off just fine. The second chair is also missing one of its swivel chair tips, but I imagine replacement tips could be found online without too much trouble.
Pickup in Bradford (Haverhill) MA, just a mile off 495. I can usually be available evenings and weekends.
