This is a large Missionary Map of India, printed in New York in 1841 and hand annotated with colored paint. The map is approximately 84 inches wide and 70 inches high.
The map is full of strange spellings hand painted notations and all sorts of interesting cartographic error. The map is attached to a wooden bar on the top. There is a pole that used to be attached to the bottom, but we removed it for fear it was stressing the paper. We will include it with the final package if desired.
The text on the map reads “Missonary Map of India embracing Hindustan, Burmah, Siam, and Adjacent Provinces from the latest and best authorities by O. B. Bidwell. Published by W. H. Bidwell 120 Nassau Street, New York. Sixth Edition.” The Stations are listed as “American Board, Baptist Board, Presbyt’n Board, Lutheran Soc. Freewill Bapist, London Misionary Society, Gospel Propaganda Society, English Church Miss. Society, English Baptist Miss. Society, Wesleyan Missionary Socieyt, General Baptist Miss Society.”
