When it came out, the Canon F1 was an awesome development for the professional. 40 years on, it’s still a great camera for the weird person who still uses 35mm film.
Don’t get me wrong, its not that I don’t like 35mm, it’s that hipsters brought back Polaroid, they bought back Lomography and other cameras that make lower-quality images.
Well, buck the trend. Do something so underground that it’s above ground on the other side of the planet. Buy a camera that will make awesome images.
You Will Get:
One Canon F-1 body in excellent mechanical condition. A bit of dust in the viewfinder, but nothing serious. Full disclosure kind of thing.
AND
One Canon F-1 body ALSO in excellent mechanical condition. Buuuut the Fresnel lens that goes to the eyepiece is wonky. The images will show up crystal clear on film, but the viewfinder is a blurry jumble.
BUT. I challenge you to find parts for a 40 year old camera. You can’t. This guy is your goldmine of parts, should something break on Camera Numero Uno.
These guys (body only) go for upwards of $175-200 on ebay. A parts camera is a good $50. If you can find one. Which is hard to do because these things are built SOLID and don’t really break much. Heck, even the “broken” camera of the pair works perfectly as far as producing a good image on film is concerned.
